Discuss why it is important to market yourself? How can you build your brand online?
Thanks to the globalization and the break of most frontiers, the job market became a lot more competitive. Nowadays you can apply for a job in the UK while you're French and compete with an Indian candidate who has approximatively the same values and knowledge as you.
People and especially digital or innovative companies want us to get over that. They want to be sure that we're gonna be able to fight for the job and the company.
The best way is to show to the company that you can already market yourself, so you would perfectly be able to market the company's brand. And that's gonna add a lot a value to your profile when you'll be looking for a job!
You need market yourself in order to prove your knowledge and your appetite for the job. This rule is especially true in the Marketing, Creative or Advertising fields.
To do so you can easily create your own brand online now. Choose a pseudo, a brand name and create social media pages with that name. Grow those pages by share content over all your different media, use them together because there should be all looking the same to be easily recognizable by your future boss, clients, fans...
Many CMS like Wordpress or Wix allow you to build your own website. You can build a blog, an e-commerce, you can monetize any service you want.
To conclude I would say that building your brand online brand is starting to be a necessity in the communication field, either to get a job, either to have a job.
Competition is big, and I like what you said about knowledge and appetite and putting these two thing as a rule .

ReplyDeleteGlobalization is already moving fast. Finding unique brand name will be a challenge to make sure that the name is unique to be recognized by anyone in the world. You might also want to check out and explore other website and social media builder including Godaddy (www.godaddy.com), Homestead (www.homestead.com) and wordpress (www.wordpress.com).
